Turmeric, a common spice that is used in Indian, Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern cooking is a healthy choice for many ailments. It has been used as medicine in places like India for centuries. It has been found to have anti inflammatory qualities, can ease depression and has even been found to fight cancer. A compound in Turmeric, known as curcumin has potential to ease depression and help antidepressants work better. Research is in progress, and studies have only been done on animals, not people, but since curcumin fights inflammation and keeps blood sugar levels steady, they are finding that it may possibly lower the odds of prediabetics to develop Diabetes. Turmeric tea may be good beverage to drink to fight off viruses, such as the flu and even Herpes. Menstrual Cramps? Curcumin has also been shown to ease PMS symptoms. Many with arthritis use Turmeric to ease joint pain, stiffness, and inflammation. They say that you can help your body absorb natural curcumin by eating your turmeric along with black pepper. Amazingly in lab animal testing, Turmeric has stopped the growth of tumor cells. We do not know what these studies tell us that may happen in human bodies, and there is also a chance that it may interfere with some chemotherapy medications, so don't take it without your doctors recommendation.
